Here is someone carving a name on the base of a Chinese seal or Chop.  It is done with hand tools as the stone is actually quite "soft".  When complete your name will be visible in reverse of course so that when you press the chop into ink and use it to seal a document then it will be the correct way around.

The people doing the carving are very experienced and can do it quite quickly, just pay your money and go way for 20 minutes and it will be done.
